Andy Nguyen is a Project Associate with the Trade, Economic, and Energy Affairs (TEEA) group, and Executive Assistant to the John M. Shalikashvili Chair in National Security Studies at NBR.
As a Project Associate with TEEA, Mr. Nguyen provides administrative, logistical, outreach, and research support for initiatives such as the Energy Security Program, the Pacific Energy Summit, and Innovation and IP policy. As Executive Assistant to Admiral (ret.) Jonathan Greenert, former U.S. Chief of Naval Operations and the current Shalikashvili Chair in National Security Studies, he conducts research, prepares briefing materials, plans conferences, and manages Admiral Greenert’s schedule and travel arrangements.
Prior to joining NBR, he interned at the Office of Investment Affairs at the U.S. Department of State. He also served as a senior editor for the Georgetown Journal of Asian Affairs.
Mr. Nguyen holds an MA in Asian Studies with a focus on International Political Economy from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service and an honors certificate from the Karl F. Landegger Program in International Business Diplomacy. He received his BA in East Asian Studies with a minor in Government from Harvard University. His research interests are primarily focused on China, energy, and global business, with an emphasis on U.S.-China relations, energy geopolitics, trade and investment issues, and maritime security in the Asia-Pacific. He speaks Mandarin Chinese and Vietnamese.
