The National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR)
Matthew Newton is a Publications Intern at NBR.
As an intern in the publications department, Mr. Newton assists in the formatting, editing, and distribution of NBR publications. He is an MA candidate in the Russian, East European, and Central Asian Studies Program at the Henry M. Jackson School of International Studies. His research interests include Kremlinology, arms control, and media freedom.
Originally from Los Angeles, Mr. Newton is a 2012 graduate of the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where he studied Soviet and Russian history. Prior to joining NBR, he spent two years in Moscow working as a teacher of English. He has also worked in the digital marketing sphere as a researcher and copywriter. Mr. Newton is a Foreign Language and Area Studies Fellow in Russian.
