China's Rising Leaders
In December 2012, NBR hosted its second group of eight Chinese rising leaders in Seattle, New York, and Washington, D.C. The 2012 delegation consisted of a sitting judge, a vice-president at a pioneering internet technology company, several influential scholars, and well-known journalists. These delegates will join an expanding group of program alums laying the foundation of future U.S.-China relations.
NBR’s China Rising Leaders Program is led by an Advisory Committee co-chaired by Ambassador Stapleton Roy (Woodrow Wilson Center) and Dr. Cheng Li (Brookings Institution) and is designed to assemble a delegation of mid-career up-and-coming leaders from the PRC and bring them to the United States to meet with key decision makers in government and influential figures in the business and non-profit communities.
The program seeks to enhance mutual understanding on issues of common concern, reduce mistrust, advance collaboration, and forge vital new networks among Chinese and U.S. leaders. NBR expects to welcome the third delegation in late 2013.
