"China's Global Activism" featuring Amanda Bennett

On December 4, 2024, NBR held its twenty-ninth President’s Circle dialogue with special guest Amanda Bennett, Chief Executive Officer of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, which oversees six entities including the Voice of America and Radio Free Asia.

NBR President Michael Wills began the event by giving his outlook on recent developments in Asia, including the ongoing political developments in South Korea and China’s ban on rare earth mineral exports to the United States. Afterwards, he engaged Ms. Bennett in a conversation on the mission of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, its role in U.S. diplomacy, and on the value of a free press. Attendees were able to engage with Ms. Bennett and hear directly from her about China’s challenge in the information space and the importance of narratives and information dissemination.
