International Trade: Urban-Rural Divide

On March 26, 2018, the Slade Gorton Policy Center held a panel discussion on the impact of international trade, and its relevant policies, on the urban/rural divide nationally and in Washington State. The roundtable discussion was moderated by former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton and featured panelists Hon. Gary Locke and Congressman Dan Newhouse. Ambassador Locke is a former Ambassador to China, former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, and former Governor of Washington State. Congressman Newhouse currently serves in the U.S House of Representative for Washington’s 4th Congressional District and formerly served as Washington State’s director for the Department of Agriculture.

This program was planned and implemented by the students of the Gorton Center Global Leaders Program, a year-long leadership development program for undergraduate, graduate and law students from the Puget Sound area.
