Policy and Political Implications of the 2012 Elections

On November 13, 2012, the Slade Gorton Policy Center hosted a lively roundtable discussion on the policy and political implications of the November 2012 election results with featured guests, Cathy Allen and John Carlson, two of the most well respected political analysts and strategists in Washington State—one liberal, one conservative. The program was moderated by former U.S. Senator Slade Gorton.

Cathy Allen is President and Owner of The Connections Group, Inc. She has spent the past twenty years working to help communities, governments, nonprofit associations and women’s groups better communicate to the press, the public, and politicians. Cathy’s background includes: co-founder of the Center for Women & Democracy at the University of Washington; trainer for the National Democratic Institute in the Middle East and North Africa; and noted author, speaker and television political pundit.

John Carlson, a well known conservative political analyst and strategist, hosts the popular Commute with Carlson program daily on Talk Radio 570 KVI. Prior to his radio career, John was a television commentator on KIRO and KCTS and a newspaper columnist for 18 years. He has led three successful statewide ballot initiatives and founded and led The Washington Policy Center, a highly regarded think tank.
