Supporting U.S.-Japan Cooperation through Corporate and Government Engagement
On February 20, 2025, the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) welcomed to Washington, D.C., a delegation of over 30 senior Japanese corporate and industry representatives. The delegation was led by Takeshi Niinami, who is President & CEO of Suntory Holdings, senior economic advisor to Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, and Chairman of Keizai Doyukai [Japan Association of Corporate Executives].
NBR President Michael Wills moderated a discussion on issues ranging from U.S.-Japan trade and economic relations to Japan’s leadership role in the Indo-Pacific to security cooperation in the event of a Taiwan Strait or Korean Peninsula crisis. The delegation was organized in partnership with NBR Nonresident Fellow Daisuke Kawai, Project Assistant Professor at the University of Tokyo.
