APEC 2023
In 2023, the United States is serving as the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) host, convening four rounds of meetings on trade, digital, energy, and related issues. To complement these discussions, NBR is conducting a year-long series of activities examining APEC’s goals and priority issues. Planned activities include in-person engagements alongside the Third Senior Officials’ Meeting, the Energy Ministers’ Meeting, and other APEC meetings to be held in Seattle in August.
Under the theme of “Creating a Resilient and Sustainable Future for All,” the United States’ priorities as APEC host fall into three categories: interconnection, innovation, and inclusion. Throughout the year, NBR will release a series of publications to examine U.S. and regional priorities and present tangible policy options on related issues, such as strengthening supply chains; advancing digital trade, the digital economy, and data governance frameworks; combating the climate crisis and ensuring energy security through trade; and supporting women’s economic empowerment and inclusion.
NBR is grateful to the Hinrich Foundation for their generous support of these publications.
