Pacific Rim Study Group and Dinner Series
In the summer of 2022, the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) is bringing to life a bipartisan, off-the-record dinner engagement to elevate the Pacific Rim offices’ understanding of the risk and opportunities emanating from the Asia-Pacific. The study group will address critical and emerging issues in foreign affairs, national security, technology, energy, and trade policy in Asia.
Participants are senior staff from Senate and House offices in the Pacific Northwest and other Pacific-facing states, including HI, AK, WA, OR, ID, CA, MT, AZ, UT, and NV. These dinners provide an off-the-record venue for staff to engage with prominent subject-matter experts and high-level political appointees on critical issues in U.S.-Asia relations.
Senator Jeff Merkley (D-OR) and Representative Young Kim (R-CA) serve as honorary co-chairs of the study group.
