The Future of South Asian Security
Prospects for a Nontraditional Regional Security Architecture

This report offers key findings and insights from a project by NBR exploring a “Nontraditional Regional Security Architecture for South Asia,” which was funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation’s Asia Security Initiative. The primary goal of this project was to explore opportunities in the near term for regional cooperation on nontraditional security challenges in South Asia, with the hope that such cooperation might yield dividends in the long term toward resolving the region’s persistent traditional security problems.
