Symposium to Honor the Legacy of Senator Slade Gorton


In honor of Senator Slade Gorton’s lifetime of service to the people of Washington State and to celebrate Senator Gorton’s 90th birthday, the Washington State Attorney General’s Office and the University of Washington School of Law hosted a symposium to highlight the Senator’s career in public service on January 12, 2018.

Historian John Hughes interviewed Senator Gorton on stage, covering his long career in politics. Legal scholars from the University of Washington discussed Senator Gorton’s tenure as Washington State Attorney General, during which time he argued fourteen cases in front of the US Supreme Court. Current attorney general Bob Ferguson and former attorney general Rob McKenna joined Senator Gorton for a panel discussion on their experiences serving as Washington State Attorney General.
